Fencing equipment
This page will identify the equipment needed to build a farm fence. There are 3 risk analysis that you will need to work through and explain how many people are needed for each implement and the maximum number of equipment that can be safely lifted. Included below are you-tube clips on how to use some equipment and how they are to be used safely.
Equipment needed in the construction of building a fence;
- Dolly
- Shovel
- Cement mixer
- Strainer or gripples
- Pliers
- Fence cutters
- Level
- Wheel barrow
- Crow bar
- Star pickets
Young workers under the age of 18 years should not be required to lift, lower or carry objects
weighing more than 16 kg without mechanical or other assistance which may include team lifting
and/or particular training for the task.
The fence equipment has made fencing easier. Using this equipment can be straining on your body, we need to establish how many people are needed to lifts and manage each equipment implement.
- To build this fence we need to collect and lay out 20 star pickets. Each star picket weights 2.3kg each and the maximum safety weight you are allowed to lift is 16kg. how many star pickets are you allowed to move at a time? and how many trips will you need to make to successfully collect all star pickets needed?
- To place these star pickets in you will need to use which implement? this implement weights 17kg and your maximum weight to safely lift is 16kg. How i will you solve this problem so the task is completed safely?
- If the strainer post was 1800mm high and 104mm wide, but only 12.5kg in weight. how many people do you think will be needed to lift and assemble this strainer post safely?
